St. Therese, Little Flower of Jesus Parish, Uniontown, PA

On March 27, 1927 Bishop Hugh Boyle approved a new parish in Uniontown, Pa. He appointed the Father Luigi Tabbia to be the pastor under the patronage of St. Therese de Lisieux, The Little Flower of Jesus.

The Italian immigrant’s prayers for their own parish had borne fruit after 11 years of struggle, prayer and worship.

Our parish today continues to thrive and serve the needs of over 1,600 families from every conceivable background. We, at St. Therese, have been blessed over the years to have had strong pastoral leadership throughout our soon to be 86 years of history. Today, the great traditions and strong pastoral leadership carries on and we continue to be showered with God's blessings.

Now you know a little background about the history of the parish. Just as important is where we are right now. St. Therese Parish is made up of people of all ages, working hard to grow closer to God and one another. For us, this is done first and foremost through the Sunday liturgy and the celebration of the sacraments.

We also have a desire to continue to be a welcoming people, not only to those who may be new or visiting, but among our parish family. We need to get to know one another!

I see our parish as one that realizes that we need to grow closer to God and to one another. We need to know what our faith is about and have a desire to grow and share it with others. If we succeed, great … if not, we try again. We are by no means perfect, but realize the church is made up of sinners striving to be saints. We are not finished people, but we strive toward holiness of life on our earthly sojourn.

In this we are growing closer to God as a parish family. If you are a member reading this, continue to do your best. If you are not sure who or what we are, take the time to get to know us. Guess what? We need you and you need us. Welcome and God bless.
